Three Dog Night was an American rock and roll band active from 1968 to 1975. Their first gold record was "One" in 1969, followed by "Easy To Be Hard" from the musical Hair. They had three number one songs: "Mama Told Me Not to Come," "Joy to the World", and "Black and White". The band included three lead vocalists — Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells — and Michael Allsup on guitar, Floyd Sneed on drums, Joe Schermie (from the Cory Wells Blues Band) on bass, and Jimmy Greenspoon on keyboards. The band was the protegé of Beach Boys producer, composer, vocalist, and instrumentalist Brian Wilson, and at the time went under the name Redwood.

Three Dog Night

(R.Newman)
Cold gray buildings where a hill should be.
Steel and concrete closing in on me.
City places aren't the places I roam alone.
Cowboy, cowboy, can't run, can't hide, too late.
To fight now, to die to try.
Winds that once blew free now scatter dust to the sky
Cowboy, cowboy, can't run, can't hide, too late.
To fight now, to die to try.
